I think the very best tend to be obsessive about what they do so they end up neglecting other areas of their life to focus on their obsession. And that’s true for every profession, from a football player to a lawyer or creative director
Being the best also means being selective with your time. Can’t say that my balance is ideal, but learning to say no to frivolous projects that won’t help me grow professionally or personally was really a big step in being happy.
If you just do the best work you can get while still leading a rich personal like you will be 1000% happier than if you neglect your real life and do a bunch of award winning ads that no one will care about in a month. You're not making art or curing cancer, you're hocking someone else's products.
I found that it was not. I was extremely successful young . I had no life outside of work . I now have more life outside work because I took a step back in my career
I'm trying. It's not really working.
In a word, no. The balance will come later but you will probably feel like you missed out on a lot unless being the best in the world at this is your absolute passion.
I was at the very limit. Whilst I do not have regrets I knew I would have going forward if I did not refocus . Outside of work is now more important
I think you have to surround yourself with people who share life goals. Then yah.
Sadly no.
☝️ same.
Nope
It’s called balance
