hey folks, I am going to join Oracle ossi in Hyderabad location. I have never been to Hyderabad, and will be relocating. Please guide on what would be good areas to look for rent. Also, what would be rent like for 2/3 bhk. Ideally my budget for rent would be <25k. Initially I will be going but in future my family will join me once I am settled. Any points to note or any other gotcha to keep in mind ? Please suggest.

I don’t know why y’all are criticizing the 20k. The rule of thumb is typically 3 times your months salary and we’re consultants…who make pretty good money. This is also a great investment. Diamonds often don’t lose their value and if you fall on hard times you’ll have collateral. Congrats on your upcoming engagement.
C3 I hope you find love again ❤️
Think about who your will-be fiancé is before spending that kind of a money. What are her priorities? What kind of money did she grow up around?
Because I would be absolutely FURIOUS if my fiancé spent that kind of money on a ring when it could go towards a house, a wedding, savings, debt, etc., whether we could afford it or not. Like that would really have me questioning how our views on finances match up.
Wedding? You’d rather spend that money feeding a bunch of your friends and family for a night than a beautiful piece of jewelry that should last a lifetime?
As a female, the ring matters as it's something she'll look at every day for the rest of her life. It's not something worth cheaping out on. If it matters to her, do the right thing. 20k is a lot but if it's what she wants, and it's in the budget. Why not make her thrilled that will last a (hopefully) lifetime
I would say just buy the ring now. Due to inflation you may end up paying 22k for the same ring by year end.
Guys- it's his money. He can spend however he wants. It's like some people spend $10k a year on vacation, while others backpack via hostels
As long as he's not making $50k in annual salary with $5k in saving, who are we to evaluate what he spends on "leisure"
That being said, if 1-year horizon is truly your investment timeline and you have no other "backup money," I would go conservative in your investment vehicles (something that just fights off inflation). Equity market is too volatile right now with multiple macro trends that could turn the market downwards
Love it! The receiver is lucky. If you are starting with something lower and looking to build to 20K it is risky to expect a return in a year. A longer time horizon like 5 years is preferred to get the average return. If you still want to risk it s&p 500 is as safe as it gets, again by the EOY S&P 500 can be lower than what it is right now. If your risk appetite is high and you are willing to loose some
money then go for individual stocks do your research and determine which one you think will grow take the money out as soon as it grows. Again please note like others have said this is just like gambling so please be prepared to lose your investment.
Anything related to the stock market is risky, and probably too risky for 1 year. It can work out well, but the acid reflux that comes with a short term goal riding on stocks is a lot to take.
However I don't understand the vitriol everything someone makes a post such as this. Who gives a crap what you spent on a ring or what you deem to be acceptable? That wasn't the question. To each their own when it comes to where your money goes. Answer the bloody question.
A dividend etf is too risky for less than me a year. It is still an equity fund. If you need the money at EOY you need to keep it safer
8K. Gorgeous, artisan made custom ring.
Dude. Cubic zirconium. Like 800 bucks or even 2k for a really nice one
Yea I’m not suggesting lying. Decide fake diamond now, and then real diamond later when you hood rich
I recommend checking out NLY. It has maintained its valuation very well the last several months, and pays a solid 7% dividend.
Do whatever makes you happy as long as you are not borrowing for your the ring or do not have any other debt.
Spend what you want, don’t listen to others. My service industry friends would be appalled that I spent $8k on my wife’s engagement ring, and I’d be embarrassed to tell her oil-money uncle that it cost only $8k.
PSA: No one asked for opinions on whether he should spend that much on a ring or not. Let him spend his money how he wants. Your future fiancé is lucky!
Has anyone tried to resell a diamond? Assuming no because you’d know they don’t hold value anywhere near what you pay.
Determine what Cs you want and find a wholesaler. The valuation will be the retail amount, but you’ll save a considerable amount on the diamonds price.
Jewelers row in Chicago. Talked to some friends and family of who to use and got a great referral.
The ring is the bigger risk here by far and you have taken the plunge there so you need not worry
$20k is a LOT of money. But, you do you, boo.
But if you want it easily accessible, don’t invest it. You need that money liquid
Spend 2k and pocket the 18k
OP, if you want to buy a 20K ring, buy a 20K ring. If we’re honest with ourselves, 20K isn’t even that much in our line of work. I mean, I’ve made 2-3x that off referral bonuses.
Could you use it on other stuff? Of course… but if your other investments are on track and you want a nice ring then do it. It’s no different than a nice car, clothes, etc.
I felt the same way about our wedding at first as we were paying ourselves but looking back I’m glad we spent what we did because it was so memorable.
Buy her a 20K watch. Depending on the watch, you can get one that appreciates in value and has diamonds!
Bill Ackman says to buy Netflix. Wait until Fed unloads
Did I not say buy Netflix 🥲. Coulda turned 20K into 22K! Now that it’s “up”, it still has upside but I personally wouldn’t do it unless I’m catching the “falling knife” as traders call it.
