Shooting my shot! Any good non-law firm positions available for a 2nd year employment/exec comp/corporate associate? Seeing a lot of “5+ years” of experience requirement with both law firm and in-house preferred. I am a soon to be 3rd year associate and would like to make the switch to in-house. Am i doomed for having under 5 years of experience?

I was on the phone with somebody today who only had about 3 years employment experience. She was no 2 employment counsel at this company. That said 2 years is t much experience for in house where you’re expected to be a problem solver. 2 years just isn’t a lot of experience to work from

Thanks! My gut has been telling me to try to stick it out 1 more year in big law until i am a rising 4th year. That seems doable for now but it’s still under the 5+ years requirement — so i’m happy to know there’s opportunities with even less than 5 years !

First time poster here!

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?

I am looking to enter big law. I had a clerkship on a state Business Calendar and am a current first year litigation associate where I have prepared for a trial, taken and defended depositions, and have extensive motion writing practice in tech, business, and employment cases. Is it a waste of time to try and make a move to big law with such few years of experience?

One of my junior associates recently resigned and I've been trying to make an exit myself for several months now. The job market has been really competitive but I am getting closer to getting a new job and moving on. The firm culture isn't great and work-life balance is non existent. My physical and mental health have been suffering, so I really don't think I could stay. How did you avoid the guilt trips from Partners/Senior staff trying to get you to stay?

I can’t get out. I’m a barred attorney looking to move into a JD preferred role. I don’t like being at a firm.
