Tax payable in April is basically the output of a function with two factors: your taxable income, which is your income less credits, and how much you paid/withheld during the year.
Of those main drivers - income, credits, and withholding - what changed?

This - line up your 2019 and 2020 1040s next to each other and compare line by line. If your income went up and/or withholding went down then it is what it is otherwise you'll want to dig deeper and figure out what is driving the change.

I’d plug data into another software. If it’s similar then yes you owe Uncle Sam that. Something must have got screeed when you changed to marrieds and reduced the amount withheld.
If you had a side gig your self employment loses can help offset some of that tax Bill due
Common theme this year with lots of folks owing tax when previously they didn’t. I seem to recall that the IRS changed their withholding tables because of the 2017 tax law changes, and it meant most people had less withheld this year than previous years, thus resulting in higher payments due at filing.
This happened to me and it’s because my husband had withholdings in his paycheck. So we had him change it all to 0.

Probably didn’t get enough withheld. Did you change your w4?
If you’re ok with taking a risk hiring a CPA might help lower that bill and offset the difference.
Same I’m getting hit with $7,200k because I changed my filing status to Married after I got married smh. Apparently I needed to keep my status at Single so that my employer would take out enough money. For some reason their software had me in a ridiculously low tax bracket so they weren’t taking enough and now I owe a bunch of money -_-
Try plugging your data into another program like HR Block
