It depends on your goals.
Are you trying to build your professional network? (Go for MBA)
Are you trying to establish yourself as an expert in a specific niche? (MBA not needed)
Are you trying to start your own business? (MBA could be useful)
Try to think about the reasons why people get MBAs and then think about whether those apply to you. Since you already have a grad degree it’s less critical for credentializing yourself.

I think maybe a PhD would be a better choice.
Thank you Accenture 1, not at all a silly idea. I’ve already investigated this path (as you can tell I really want to leave BCG ahah) and I received amazing answers from the industry!
Bottom line: especially in the US, PhD not really relevant. In consulting/industry, it seems to be worth only in selected countries (e.g., Germany)

MBAs aren’t that coveted in Europe. It depends on your long term goals, which you didn’t share with us :) but I’d say more likely not worth it
Yes, if you’re under 30
EY1, there’s more lucrative options outside Big4 and promotion cycles. Big4,MBB is NOT the end-all-be-all. There will always be some ROI.
OP what do you want to do long term?
If going the MBA route, then consider only top programs.

Thank you, team!
Several reasons, some not entirely legit:
- Need a break from consulting but not sure if it’s already the right moment for me to enter corporate (MBA as a way to keep building a “good story/trajectory”)
- Lack of a top-10 university name in my CV (I would aim for LBS or HEC)
- Lack of a strong network, especially once back in Europe (coming from an average family and currently working in the ME)
- Lack of a somewhat deep expertise in a field (I would go for digital strategy and business, my current focus)
- BSc in a (very) technic engineering and MSc in general business (hence, the feeling of “i know (very) little of everything”€
- (Very) long-term goals include senior/executive positions in corporate, hence the idea that the MBA badge could help
Does it make sense or are silly considerations? Thank you so much for your time for only considering this 🙏🏻
