The county where I want to buy has a conforming loan limit of $1.089M but I want to buy a place that’s around $950k. I’ve had 2 banks (Wells Fargo and Citi) that have told me that they can still offer a jumbo loan (jumbo rates are significantly lower) in that price range while Chase told me I would have to take a conforming loan. Has anyone heard of banks getting around these loan limits?

I am trying to justify house buying in HCOL city. The house cost is minimum 1.4m .monthly mortgage would be at least 7k(with just around 2k principal) rest goes to either int,tax. I just left my pre-seed startup that was running out of cash (we made $100,000 in revenue this year, and sunk $1m in costs). I was making $40,000 as a developer (plus 20k stock options at $1/share per year) and they refused to pay me any more money.
