For the equivalent of $55 more in annual fee (after $300 travel credit) I could get ~$290 more in points with the 3x travel and dining points + $1,250 from the 100k point bonus. This seems like a no brainer, right nerds?
Duh. Hurry, the 100K offer ends soon! Downgrade you current Chase Sapphire Reserve to a Chase Freedom to avoid the annual fee
***Downgrade your current Chase Sapphire Preferred***
Yea got that message. Those numbers didn't include the $0.015 value if you redeem on Chase Travel. Seems crazy to pay me almost $1600 for an additional $55, but I'll take it (assuming approval 🙏🏼). I always use Chase Travel for points and it's only gotten better and the CSRs are always so nice.
I heard today you can't downgrade CSP directly to Freedom if you haven't had it for at least a hear. Downgrade to OG Sapphire, wait one bill cycle, then downgrade that to Freedom is the workaround.
Fortunately I've had it since it was the Chase Travel Preferred or whatever it was called
Biz/first class with points is better to transfer to partner than use chase travel portal
Silly question - I got the CSR last year but cancelled since I was never gonna use $300 travel credit by end of year. Can I still get the bonus points if I get one now?
Can the CSP be downgraded to the freedom to avoid the annual fee if you already have the freedom card?
@EY1, since you've already paid the one-year annual fee, why the urgency to downgrade through workaround? I'm in the same boat with <1 year CSP + CSR and may be thinking about this wrong.
I haven't D2
CSR is actually cheaper to break even than CSP. Assuming the minimum value of 1 cent per point, You need to spend $9000 on travel and dining (thats the reason to get these cards as opposed to the free freedoms) to break even on CSP while for CSR the break even point is $7500. Of course you have to max out the travel credit too, which is very easy to.
