The last two weeks I’ve had thoughts of self harm. It’s hard to adjust to the regular world. I didn’t think that the adjustment would be this challenging. My wife doesn’t know these thought’s because I don’t need her worrying about my mental health. We have an 8 month old son I want to be able to give them the best life but the military is all I know and I have no idea what career to choose. I don’t want to waste my time going to college because im the breadwinner for my little family. ~ Long

As far as the career direction bit - I found it helpful to treat my transition like an experiment. I created a list of jobs that kinda sounded interesting and used services like Veterati to connect with vets who were in those areas - picked their brains about career progression, perks of the job, pain points, the type of people who succeed, and pay expectations. If you tell them you’re interested in their journey and just want to learn, there’s no awkward pressure around them placing you.

Of course, if they like you, they’ll provide further resources and connections to further your goal.

If you don’t like what they have to say - good, you can cross that off your list and move on to the next area you want to explore without needing the firsthand trial-and-error.

Good advice EYP1!

Leaving the military and a new baby can compound ANY issues however big or small. Look into the VetCenter as opposed to the VA for mental health. A lot of the therapists and counselors have served and typically empathize better than civilian therapists.

Please take care of yourself. If you need some accountability we’re here.

i had my canadian pr last year but didn’t do the landing since covid hit. the deadline passed of course and the immigration office reached out to check if i’m still interested and if so i should re-do a medical. assuming my medical goes through and my pr is processed and accepted again, does anyone know if landing is still a thing? my original plan was to do a landing and move after 2 years. is this still possible or does canada basically want you to move in a year or so after pr is granted?

Any tips on how to improve lining thickness? My RE had me on Estrace for a week before starting Prometrium (vaginally) a few days ago, but my lining is only a little above 5mm. This will be the 3rd transfer cycle that’s getting canceled, it just really sucks...what’s worse is I didn’t see my doctor today, just the sono tech, (cont’d)

Is it really that difficult to get hired for a federal job? I was interviewed for a GS12 job but never heard back, they still didn’t hire anyone and I didn’t get a rejection. I am still applying to new jobs but I was told it is impossible to move up the grade level now. Everyone is telling me to stick with the government. What are your thoughts?

I am devastated. Ive been with my boyfriend for almost 4 years we were taking about getting married and having kids. Then I discovered he was also in another relationship - 2 years in.
He promised her all the same sweet stuff. I'm trying not to be too hard on myself but I'm not sure I can recover from this.

any insight into how a pmm skillset is different from a brand strategist one? of course the pmm applies insights to and influences the product, but it seems like a lot of the core elements - research, understanding the user, generating insights, developing messaging and angles to speak to them, etc are super similar. interested in transitioning and I want to understand where my gaps are!

This one is going to make some of y’all mad, but it’s so annoyingly unnecessary. The most irritating part is “is it a shirt day or a skirt day”…. Like women don’t wear shirts with skirts and men don’t wear shirts with pants. Shirts and skirts are not mutually exclusive. I’ll just leave this here.
