This job is more emotionally taxing than I could have imagined and I feel like I have nothing left to give my family at the end of the day. How do you look after your mental health?

I’m so sorry! Can you tell us a little more about what your day to day looks like? It might look different for all of us

To be honest I have not yet achieved the necessary balance to be able to deal with the exhaustion left by this job, my family is my support but I am still in the process.

It is always important to be able to share with your family, after all we work so hard for them. I think you should look for a way to achieve a balance to be able to share more with your family, maybe look for a way to organize your daily activities.

It's important to have a good support system in place when you're feeling emotionally drained. Make sure you have people you can talk to who will understand what you're going through and be there for you. It's also important to take time for yourself, whether that means taking a relaxing bath, reading a book, or going for a walk. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health, so make sure you don't forget to do something that makes you happy and helps you relax.

Make sure to practice self-compassion and be gentle with yourself during times of stress. If you find yourself struggling, it might be helpful to seek out professional help.

$325k TC at MBB in a non-generalist (still partner track) path. Love the intellectual variety, smart colleagues, flexibility (WFH has let me take occasional 2-3h windows during the day for personal activities) - can’t take the stress anymore. Are WFH industry roles at the $300-500k TC level really that much less stressful?

Currently a staff in audit - 6 months in. Glad to be learning a lot, and have had a generally positive experience at the firm other than a few interactions, some tough busy season nights. Really been intrigued by TAS/M&A, however, and had a few convos with a senior in TAS i know at the firm. It’s closer to what I studied, but don’t know how to make the jump as it seems an internal transfer could take 6+months/senior rank and a lot of convincing. Is it better to jump firms/has anyone done this?
