Hi, did anybody ever experience wrong tax calculations by JPMC Payroll/tax team ? Or is there any specific month where they deduct more tax. Huge amount of tax deduction is done for Oct payout. From my CA’s calculation the amount deducted by JPMC team looks wrong. Anybody experienced this?

Junior here - so what im getting is that it’s going to be hard to find a good firm with the right fit where a POC associate feels valued and has training and opportunities etc! How do we find such firms? I feel like sometimes I want to ask straight questions in interviews like have you read the study mentioned in the post above and what are you thoughts about it lol
Thing is I love what I do!

There may be a way to get hold of all your past reviews, even any individual reviews that didn’t make it to a summarized review. These reviews can shed light on what your supervisors said, reveal biases, and help put all the pieces together in trying understand your time there. Others on Fishbowl have said they have gotten hold of them.
If the firm insists on not showing you your reviews even after you make your case for them, I would find that notweworthy given the fact that you were placed on a PIP and thus were presumedly intensively reviewed. It’s only fair you see them.
If you were to file a charge with the government or sue, the firm would use these reviews to respond to try to establish they had non-discriminatory reasons to terminate you.
So should you be considering discussing your situation with an employment lawyer, getting hold of these reviews would be important to evaluating the strength of any claims.
For anyone still following this, I received two offers today.
So happy to hear!
Remember, a job is a just a job. It will come and go, but it doesn’t and shouldn’t define who you are or your career.
Best of luck!
Yup, I am being terminated. They are willing to be flexible and give me a long notice period so that I can land on my feet somewhere else, but it is over for me.
So sorry to hear. Your reaction is measured and levelheaded and will serve you well. So many of us have been in this situation. It is far from the end of the world. You can still thrive in your career. Wishing you the best.
I double checked the meeting invite and the managing partner is in there too. I am definitely get fired.
Ironically I have been trying to leave for the last 6 months but have been difficulty getting traction in my niche area. I have had 3 interviews with one firm over the last two weeks and have an interview with another firm this Thursday.
I really, really fucking hope I get an offer before my website time is over.
A very similar situation happened to me too. Hopefully, they will give you time on the website. I wish I had asked for that.
I’m sorry, that would make me so anxious. You don’t know for sure so expect the worst but hope for the best. If you were to get fired, do you have a list of all the clients you’ve worked for? And a writing sample? Is there anything you can do for an hour or so tonight to get your mind off the situation, like listen to music, workout, take a bath, play games, watch something funny, call someone who loves you, etc?
Maybe make a list of all your contributions there. You’re an asset! That list of accomplishments and contributions could help you (1) remind yourself of what a badass you are, (2) think about what skills you wanna gain, (3) to leverage during the discussion tomorrow (could you work with a different practice group if there’s an issue or can they put you on a PIP while you work on getting better with them, getting work from others and/or look for a different job), and (4) it could be helpful in updating your resume
I am so sorry. This is stressful and hurtful, especially for them to hire your replacement right in front of you.
Assuming it’s a termination, try to gather as much information as you can about why, who said what, and what their issues are with your work. I would try to stay calm and cool—so that can stay in control of the situation. Take detailed notes. Put them in the “hot seat” to explain their actions.
If you think this situation is unfair/improper based on your race or gender, consult a lawyer immediately so that you can negotiate a better exit package.
Hopefully, that's not it. Let us know. Either way, you'll be fine.
I feel for you my friend. Assume the worst and try to figure out your next steps and walk in there with a game plan tomorrow. Don’t walk in there without one.
But why is it like that? Why is there a difference in evaluating POC associates and combined with all other things affect our hours, performance work product?
OP please say it louder for the bigots in the back!
Record the meeting on your phone!
Audio recording just in case it is a wrongful discharge. L&E attorney here.
Is HR going to be there? Based on how you described class year, I’m assuming you’re not in the US. But in the US, HR is almost always present during a termination.
Not the US and HR was not there.
Love this for you! Congratulations!
