I’m a JAG and I love it.
Whoops spelled student wrong, sorry about that - fat fingers
Public Affairs is interesting these days. They are now calling it MISO, and if you get on a JFMCC or JFC staff you can really coordinate some pretty cool things. Intel is interesting, although I think going Information Professional would be cooler because you get to access SAP/STO programs on your AT/ADTs, and you get to see the lethal and non-lethal worlds come together.
Also interested in the Navy Reserves direct commission process. For a non-prior service consultant, does Intel make the most sense in terms of the skillset the Navy is looking for? Seems like the day to day job would be similar in terms of building ppts, synthesizing research, briefing, etc.
I've heard Intel and Supply are the most relevant for post-MBA business types (according to airwarriors), but I could be mistaken.
Thanks C1, appreciate you sharing your experience. My sense was that the reserves direct commission process is a bit more thoughtful in terms of matching civilian experience with designators, but understand needs of the Navy overrules all of that.
That being said, needs of the Navy aside, would (in your opinion) the greatest skill overlap fall between consulting and intel? I get that the two jobs operate in fundamentally different contexts, just curious on where a consulting skillset could be best utilized in the Navy.
