Hey op! 1)You don’t need to know much to get started at mas, it will be more about the thinking/problem solving. You will have classes to figure softwares and stuff. 2) Landing jobs straight out of school will be as hard as in any other career. 3) You should be able to pursue whatever you want to no matter what people say. You already have more drive than half of the people in the industry.
If you're studying copywriting, no adobe skills needed (though it will help...i laid out a lot of my own ads at MAS). As an AD it would be helpful, but if you're diligent in learning on the side you'll be fine.
You can do it! I became an intern at 36 because I wanted a career change. However, I did not have the big money for school. Go get ‘em, and show ‘em that real-world experience is invaluable!
