Well we're all still the worker bees, McCann. I'd guess the better question would be to ask our respective agencies and C-suite how much money they gave to charities and if they gave up their holiday bonuses. Assuming most would have to answer 1) not much if anything 2) hell no. Perspectives like yours only help corporations and the most elite, while keeping ordinary people down. Yes, we're lucky to have jobs. Doesn't mean we all can't strive for more or, gasp, hope to be rewarded and recognized for going above and beyond.
I don't know McCann 1 - I actually did work in social services for underserved populations for years before transitioning to this industry. So probably actually worked to make a difference in the lives of others rather than just sounding like a self-righteous blowhard about it.
Want more money? Go make it. I don’t hear any of you crying that the old lady who cleans your offices at night didn’t get a bonus. She probably actually needs it, and probably isn’t crying about it. :)
Gift card that I can’t use to pay bills and isn’t accepted by most retailers. Good intention, bad execution
Great bonus $$$
Nada
You must be new because we never get actual bonuses. Last year we got a book, fuzzy socks, a tiny desk candle, and a $100 bill.
They probably gave out blankets because they can’t afford to have the heat on this winter now that Expedia took their business to Publicis and University of Phoenix is the only client left.
Gift card
What did you bring them? And how much did you give to charity?
$100

A half day
Nothing.
$$$ bonus

Cash bonus
Nothing, though we saw the pile of gifts for other more important people...
$250 gift card
I'm very much with McCann 1 on this. Bitching about work is always fun and especially in the big cities we always need more money but when we sit back and really look at it we live good lives. Want more? Work harder, make moves, the opportunity is also there in this industry.
I already said life isn't fair. Deal with it. Shut up about privilege life will always have those who are setup to have better chances. If you were born to a Hollywood actor you'd probably be able to be rich and famous as well, but you're not. You can cry about lack of privilege and people will pretend they care or you can do something to better your chances.
I didn't say I'm a good person. No one is going to seek out the people that cry life isn't fair and just start giving them money. I wanted to be in the NFL. Wasn't strong and fast enough gave it a try despite not having great genetics for footbal or a family who taught me how to play at a young age. Clearly didn't make it but am I supposed to cry and say they should have different rules for those wide receivers who aren't 6'5"? No you suck it up and realize life isn't fair and you do best job at playing cards you were dealt.
Everyone on this thread is living well compared to others. Do your best to make the best situation for yourself but realize that life is not fair
