For me it has depended on my relationship with the manager. For just a check in, yes, it was excessive. When I got more out of the relationship like mentorship and good discussion, weekly 1:1s didn’t feel excessive.
Interesting thought! Maybe as our relationship grows Ill see it this way.

weekly 1:1s are only feel excessive if you aren’t doing your job. collaborating with your coworkers (including your manager) is how we get things done. hell, the entire reason that companies exist is that people working together can get more done than working alone.

did you post just to get likes, or to get honest feedback?
does your manager give you honest feedback during your weekly 1:1s? if not, that is a different question, worth discussion. and if you don’t find those meetings valuable, what questions can you bring to your manager to make them so?

I’ve had weekly 1:1s with my managers for the past 3 years. I agree.
Joke: I think he/she is inti you. Lol 🥰
No way!!! 😂
Sounds like it. How much can reasonably happen/change in a week to justify that kind of meeting cadence?
Mine are fortnightly and even that feels excessive
Are you on a performance improvement or coaching plan?
Nope. Just a new employee but it was the same at my last company as well. So Im assuming this is the new norm for remote workers ?
I think you should reevaluate what honest feedback means. You jumped to a conclusion and all I did was respectfully disagree. Yes, my manager tells me Im doing a great job and to reach out if I need anything and then we spend the rest of our time talking about our families and things outside of work. If I have any questions I would typically not wait until the 1:1 so this is why I find it excessive. You could have asked that before assuming it had to do with bad performance lol but thanks for your “honest feedback”
The 1 on 1 is also to build a relationship together as in chatting about other things you mention
Twice a month is great, weekly is not
I think it depends on multiple factors to find an appropriate balance, I do feel that there should always be room for flexibility.
I've only ever seen that when they're trying to push someone out
Completely disagree and disrespectful, talking to each other for work and build up relationships, only as a colleague, no more than that.
