Would I be risking becoming too much of a Karen if I pointed out this annoying habit to the higher ups and requested this coworker chills out with all of the selfie taking? I don't want to make things awkward or uncomfortable in the office but I am kind of hating this ladies behavior
The first thing they’re going to ask you is if you’ve directly addressed it with her. That’s your first step.
If you just don’t like it and it’s not really disrupting your work, which is what it sounds like, you don’t really have a leg to stand on other than “Would you please make sure I’m not in the background of your photos? Thanks.”
Lots of people are annoying and you just kind of have to live with it.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 tell your coworker that though your appreciate her commitment, you'd rather take her photo than be in the background. How old is she?!!!!
I am unsure if her exact age, but she is at least in her forties, so she is not some young gen z or even younger millennial or anything. She is full grown adult posting selfies to Facebook . It is weird right?
If the selfies are disrupting work, you should talk to her so she knows how to take pics without disturbing you. Asides that, I don't see anything wrong with taking selfies at work. I for one recommend recording yourself at work, especially if you're making progress in the said career. This has proved to show authenticity and increase your chances of being hired. Who knows she's probably building a personal brand.
OP honestly those kinds of selfies crack me up. I have a coworker who is taking pictures of herself all the time and she always does it in the office with my big head behind her and it cracks me up. I don't understand why people take selfies at work.
Check with your work policies and see if there is anything that states against sharing proprietary information. Because taking selfies could potentially grab a computer screen, bulletin post or other sensitive information. I know with my company photos inside the actual work area are prohibited. And if she is affecting the work of others it could be an issue to take us with management or HR.
