Advice needed - boyfriend has almost 3.5 years of finance experience at a bank. Interviewed for PwC valuation senior associate and now recruiter says they want to hire him at “experienced associate” because he has no valuation experience. Is this too big of a step backwards in career? Should he push back and see if it gets him anywhere? If he does accept Associate, is it reasonable to ask for written, definitive timeline (1 year?) for promo to Senior upon meeting standards? Help!

Your exit is probably another PA firm to get more experience before you exit to industry
At least get promoted to senior before going to industry
Oh I see, yeah your best bet is to find an entry level position then. You may or may not have to take a pay cut but that’s why it’s better to make the switch now since you’re still pretty early in your career.

Nothing higher than an entry level position
Yep. Need a couple of years more seasoning!
Parents basement at best
everyone saying you need several more years are wrong; this does not always need to be the case. i spent 3 years in PA before i switched to industry and half of that time was spent as an intern lmao. if you make a good impression and know what you’re doing, just go for it. i am not a senior either, nor do i care to be. if you’re tired, i simply don’t see the point in forcing yourself to continue with it. don’t be discouraged in your search for industry roles!
edit: in the event that you wanted to know, i’m an “internal reporting accountant,” which is a fancy name for a staff accountant, essentially, and i make $75k. i live in FL.
you’re already well on your way then! i’m confident that the right offer will come up; good luck dude/dudette :)
Probably an HR rep will advise you of your options for 401k, etc.
You: "So after my tenure and diligence, it's just a good luck, so long?!"
HR rep: "I don't recall saying good luck."

Make it to senior, and then look for an industry role that you can hopefully get before busy season.
