take a RE class to show your commitment to move into this area or study online with sites like property metrics to really understand how RE works. Understand how to read and build pro forma models. Most importantly, network with the people you want to work with and express your desire to help them when available. Ask them to meet briefly to ask them how they got into what they are doing and what steps they think you should take if you want to be there in a year. You’ll put yourself on their radar. We had tax and audit associates help us during our busy season (4Q). Most of the people on our consulting team moved over from audit.
