What is the best path for me to switch careers to software engineer? I have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, which I got in 2018, and I want to shift my career to being a SWE. Do I just go back to school and get a second degree? I read online that I could get an MS in CS instead of getting a full degree. Or should I just take some programming language courses online? Are there any other options to get an entry-level job as a software engineer?

How many people were successful going from contract to direct hire? I’m super curious and would love tips as moving to a direct hire would be my ideal path. My wife is in sales at Mercedes and she has been averaging $200k a year and growing YoY. She loves her job, however she works long days and barely gets time off. Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?
