Personality is key. Ability to talk to people outside of your industry/business people. You could look at health insurance companies, hospitals, med tech companies, etc. All have M&A, or at least my company does
Unfortunately, I think most HC companies are looking for more regulatory experience than anything else. Transactional or contract drafting can certainly be desired for companies doing a lot of MSA or BAAs, etc but I think they’d rather a regulatory attorney get proficient at that than vice versa. Many PE firms or larger HC institutions may need HC corp experience for their roll-ups. I’d focus on a niche and then target companies in that niche - e.g. health it vendors or payor contracting
As far as I know, the only companies looking for transactional experience are the big ones that do transactions, e.g., HCA, Tenet, Steward, etc.
