If you’re white like me it’s so important to realize that we were raised in a society where institutionalized racism is normalized, and we were born with privilege. You can’t choose the color of your skin, but you can choose to put ego aside and reflect on why this isn’t happening to me, and be vocal about being anti-racist.

Goddamn, some of you must be terrible with money. I'm making ~60k, live in a solid location, have car payments, student loans, and a dog, and I'm getting by just fine.
People want better than solid and duh, some of us like avocado toast every morning. Plus Equinox and Soul Cycle classes don’t grow on trees.
Depends on what you consider a fair standard. Personally, I wouldn't accept sub-$100K to live in LA as an independent adult. And that's even pushing it if you want to sample the restaurants frequently, go out drinking with friends, have a gym, go to classes, own a freaking car (because everyone in LA must own a freaking car), put some away for savings and retirement, take a vacation once a year and oh, I don't know, pay rent on your own 1-br, which shouldn't be a lot to ask for from mid-level positions on up. Forget about buying. Palms is probably one of the best deals for rent in LA if you're looking for a place.
I lived there on 35k with a roommate. So I imagine you could do it from 70-90k easily on your own.
Like $100k. Maybe less if you live somewhere sketchy.
$75k to live comfortably on your own. No, you won’t be living in Venice (at least without a roommate), but you can be living in a city next to Venice that doesn’t touch the water.
Definitely no less than 100k. You'll also need a roommate at that salary if you want to live on the west side
All depends on what neighborhood you want to live in but I did it as an intern getting $12 an hour and as a full-time employee getting $35k with a roommate. Probably need to be over $60k to afford your own place but depends where you're trying to live.
if you have zero debt 100k will work.
True. I am disgustingly low on avocado toast.
Yea, I'm not avocado toasting daily but at $100k was the first time I've ever not been worried about money anymore in LA. At $60k, money is probably all I'd think about and that's not a pleasant life.
