What’s the average salary for a Junior AD in NYC? Is 55k too low?

Hey all. I had a recruiter reach out about a job posting I applied for through LinkedIn. One of the first questions she sent through email were my salary expectations. I don’t want to underbid myself without hearing about the salary range from her first. Is there a good way to respond to this questions w/o giving her a $ amount just yet?

I found out the freelancers who are doing my same work (but have 8 years of experience on me) are getting paid more than double what I make. Can I say this when asking for a raise?
