EY vacation doesn't count against util, either...
PTO doesn't technically count against utilization, but when you are in short 8-10 week projects, you can't plan you vacation ahead and setting PTO makes you less eligible for projects. It sucks
Deloitte definitely needs to change how PTO affects utilization. Today you drop your number ~2% per week off. But it's a number - manage it. Best time to take PTO is at end of project - plan it, take it, set your availability date as project end date plus two weeks.
Yes, I plan my PTO around life events (weddings, Christmas...) that not always line up with my end of projects... So I might end up planning my vacation in September now, without knowing what the project will be at that point... So that kills my utilization
There will always be people who hit 120+, enjoy life. Most people are in the same boat as you, just hit your 90% with longer weeks here and there
