Quick qstn - I'm receiving HRA of 24075 from my employer but I would like dhow the rent paid as 96k p.a (while filing ITR). Even if I do so, I was only able to get exemption of 24075 from gross. Checking if we can speak to payroll department to increase Actual HRA since I'm actually paying more rent than compared. Will I be able to do so ?Deloitte Newco EY Accenture Genpact KPMG

Spend way less than you earn. Invest the rest in a Total US Stock Market index fund (given your likely long-term through-cycle risk tolerance). That’s basically it.
You will learn either by advise, or the hard way like I did, thay investing and gambling in the market is not the same thing.
If your goal is to learn how to trade, then I am not sure how to help. My track record is horrendous.
Now, if you would like to save for long term goals and get rich slowly, then you here are a few books I would suggest you read:
- A Random Walk Down Wall Street
- Millionaire Next Door
- The New Market Wizards.
General personal finance book recommendations.:
- Richest Man in Babylon
- Total Money Makeover
- Your Money or Your Life
Boggleheads Guide to Investing and Millionaire Next Door. They’ll lay the roadmap to FI which is certainly achievable by 45 with the income this profession affords us. As EY1 said, this isn’t trading but rather investing for FI
Surprised no one has mentioned Ben Graham’s intelligent investor. If the oracle says it’s the most important investment book ever that’s enough proof for me. :-)
Oh, and in that vein, worth reading the anthology of Warren’s letters to Berkshire shareholders. Very valuable investing (and business) knowledge
I like fisher too. These are all good books. Happy reading OP!
$AAPL all in
I'd agree with any of the above books and comments. I'd add a Ken Fisher book "The Only Three Questions That Still Matter." If you aren't going to buy SPY or ACWI, you need to be able answer why you will do better. Millionaire Next door helps you save, Fisher teaches why it is hard to do better, but possible.
Thanks a lot for the book recommendations as well other suggestions! I better get learning up.
