Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

I wanted to go into the military because not many women are in the military and wanted to prove that women can do it as well as men.
To get out of my home town and see the world. Retired after 27 years, visited 42 countries and lived in seven of them.
Free college. I joined in the year 2000. Little did I know shit got real a year later. I served 9 years and received a degree in computer science and making good money in tech.
Im a 1st generation American. I came from an extremely low income family, both parents were custodians and I had 2 other siblings. We all lived inside a 2 bedroom apartment.
I eventually decided that I wanted to do something different to break the cycle of being poor (plus I also wanted to go to college after). So I enlisted at 17 with my parents written consent.
I was failing at college, partying too hard, and broke. Figured 4 years of service in the Marine Corps would provide some stability and give me another opportunity to try to get a college degree - paid for up front this time. Did my 5 years, came home, enrolled in the same university, finished my bachelors then went on to do my masters. I think my plan worked out alright :)
Was intending on going to college and as actually enrolled and had my first semester class schedule but just could not afford it being from a poor dirt farmer family in Kansas. Followed my two older brothers in, two younger also eventually followed, at one time all five of us were in.
I couldn’t figure out my path in life. I failed out of college and racked up what felt like an impossible amount of debt to pay back. I was working at a grocery store making less than $10/hr.
I joined because I couldn’t find jobs with my four year degree. The best I could find was working an office job for like $15/hr with mediocre benefits if that.
For me, it was sort of a family legacy. Great grandfather, grandfather, and father all joined the army
It’s a family tradition
In 2000, after 4 of my friends were murdered in a 4 person homicide. The deaths took place in a time and space where I was normally at. Through the grace of GOD I was at work that night. Joining the Army ended up being one of the best decisions I ever made.
