The people in general are much more dynamic and interesting. And dare I say, smart.
They think they are
Variety of clients, ability to solve challenging issues, creativity in general, smarter people who are willing to learn new things, accountability and ownership, lack of red tape to execute ideas, etc. I was client side and did not like it at all (mainly because it was the opposite of everything I said above).
Variety of clients keeps things fresh. Young and less corporate work environments.
Opportunities to create big ideas
Im at intern but I love that I love that I touch different brands everyday. It keeps it refreshing. I see lot of opportunities so I'm probably gonna stick for a while
Agencies are dying and still dominated by male leaders who are not open to diversity of thought. Innovation is happening in other places.
I got a wide breadth of experience across different retail program when I was working in (shopped) agencies. But they lack of job security was a MF. Now I’m on the supplier side working directly with the same clients (and more) and I love the job security. The pace is slower but if you have a good agency background your contributions are really values at the right company. And the politics is far far less

Fast paced environment and access to different talents.
The benefits of agencies is that they are usually located within a few select areas of NYC. Clients, on the other hand, are scattered all over the place. Some are upstate, others are in Jersey, etc. It’s tough to transition to a reverse-commute when you live in the city.
I like being able to reset my brain periodically and try new stuff. Though the way the industry is moving, agencies are just becoming in house teams that are paid for by different people
I liked being in an agency because of the different clients / work opportunity
Love the people, culture, variety of work and flexibility agency side, but can’t say I’m not having the same thoughts. I’m feeling the burnout and agency life lately.
