As a parent of two, I totally agree. I love talking about my kid, but only if you’re interested. Tbf most parents I’ve encountered are like that, but not all. Its more a self awareness thing than a parenting thing. Dog owners can be very similar - I have no interest in your dog.

@c1 I suspect that your team is young so they have fur babies. And we love our fur babies....

I feel like they double down on this assumption if you’re a woman, too.
Oh here we go. Posted this a month ago, it’s not going to go well

I have a kid. I try not to talk about her unless you ask. So I feel ya. I definitely didn't care about offspring prior to my own.
Sometimes my kid will do something crazy and I'll talk about that. But when that happens it is usually stuff life my kid biting me on the nose (I thought I was going to get a weird nose kiss from my one year old).
Here's a picture of my cat bahahaha couldn't resist 🤣

When people talk about their kids, I just look at them and and calmly say - I hate kids. Or I talk about my pets and compare their child walking to my dog rolling over.
I neither hate kids nor have a dog. The look on their faces is pretty funny though.
My team loves seeing my 3 month old on video chats. But i only do it at start of meeting for a couple minutes.
Are you sure they’re not just being polite???
