Why do some people expect others to be as interested in their kid as they are? Do I really want to spend a half hour of my crazy day to watch your (ppd's) kid sing twinkle twinkle over zoom? Hard no.

As a parent of two, I totally agree. I love talking about my kid, but only if you’re interested. Tbf most parents I’ve encountered are like that, but not all. Its more a self awareness thing than a parenting thing. Dog owners can be very similar - I have no interest in your dog.

@c1 I suspect that your team is young so they have fur babies. And we love our fur babies....

I have a kid. I try not to talk about her unless you ask. So I feel ya. I definitely didn't care about offspring prior to my own.

Sometimes my kid will do something crazy and I'll talk about that. But when that happens it is usually stuff life my kid biting me on the nose (I thought I was going to get a weird nose kiss from my one year old).

When people talk about their kids, I just look at them and and calmly say - I hate kids. Or I talk about my pets and compare their child walking to my dog rolling over.

I neither hate kids nor have a dog. The look on their faces is pretty funny though.

Hi Guys
I will be joining IBM next week in Bangalore ( physical onboarding ) and my hometown is in West bengal , My father is having health problems , mother won't be able to handle everything and no such person we can rely on . Also I am getting married in January . Hence If i stay in Bangalore there will be no one to take responsibility for my marriage prep also . If i convey to my ibm manager will they consider for 4months of WFH?Any documents may have to show?
Need your suggestion please

How did you know your marriage was over? Context: 4 of the 5 yrs of my marriage haven’t been healthy, two children (3.5 and 1), and lack of any intimacy (physical or emotional). I feel alone and despite the fact that I love my partner as a person and co-parent, I want more than that and I’m 31. I feel like there is a modicum of hope to find someone who would make me happy but I feel like a selfish monster. We both arent happy but I am the ‘instigator’ of the change. I'm so sad 😞

I am sure that I am not alone - Both Husband and wife working, Got a young child, who can not go to Childcare. Your boss expects you to deliver things, and team need you at work, at home your wife need your support si that she can attend meetings and get those task done... As a parent how are you feeling mentally and emotionally ??? Are you Frustrated or Angry with government messaging and managing expectations.
How are you feeling overall ? Would be interesting to know how you feel.

I’m an ABC dating someone from China. Need advice on bridging (what I believe to be) a cultural gap where she values spending a lot of money on a wedding, natural ring, luxury goods (ex Chanel).

My family grew up middle class, my mother grew up poor so I put zero / negative value on these things. She grew up upper class in China.

I’m worried how this difference in mindset will affect us when married and even with kids in the future.

A couple days ago my wife hit me in the head for the first time. Whilst holding our 2 year old daughter. Wife was angry cuz I don't like her mother (she stayed with us, in spite of me saying this is a bad idea). She never shouts and usually hates confrontation. I'm no angel, and I *did* message her with why her mother annoyed me... But I'm having a hard time dealing with being hit even tho it left no marks. If I hit her I think the narrative would be different. Anyone help me process this?
