You can audit courses or consider an MST. PwC will help with the MST tuition. I wouldn’t not apply just because you’re not currently eligible.
I know people that took the exam for Alaska and transferred to the state they’re in (VA) and it worked out for them!

They'll hire you. But to get promoted to manager you need either a CPA, pass a state bar, or become an EA
I guess it’s worth asking a recruiter, I know many firms are very strict about being eligible to sit for the exam upon hire.

I work with someone who got their original license in AK and then got a reciprocal license for their state of residence. YMMV.
This also worked for me - I had 150 hours but didn’t meet the accounting hours requirement for my state so I got licensed in NJ and just finished the process of getting a reciprocal license for my state.
It’s totally doable to apply in one state and then transfer one passed. You don’t need to ask the recruiter, you just apply through the state you are eligible
