Yes, I would.
Correct her but have some grace, especially if she also has a unique name and otherwise has not been rude or unprofessional
Yes, it might not actually be personal. She might just be in her own head.
Yes, I would. I don’t see name pronunciation as a Caucasian only issue. If someone isn’t saying your name right, that’s the issue. Not their background.
Just tell them she probably is overwhelmed mentally with a lot going on and doesn’t mean to
color doesn’t matter. If you mispronounce my name or call me the wrong name, I’m going to correct you
I would definitely address it. I would probably try to approach the other attorney in a professional and respectful way and explain that it is important to me that my name is pronounced correctly. If it's still the same after that, I'll think I can be petty too.
Happens to me always - and I have tried to correct them - but it always comes back as “hehehe we try, but it’s so difficult”
They never want to try enough, and it sucks. Hate being called by my fam’s nickname for me at the office lol
Yes! I’ve done it when people have misspelt my name in emails before (or called me by the wrong name 🙄)
Yes.
is she at your firm? or is she a client?
oh 100% - enough is enough at some point, and you don't want others to know you by the wrong name!
Correct it immediately every time
Umm yeah...one time I even spelled it out for her on a piece of paper. After that she got it right every time!
I correct everyone about my name, no matter the race, gender, position. I feel like allowing someone to call you the wrong name is shorting yourself. Keep correcting her until she gets it right
It reminds me of the time when someone assumed my friend and I were twins/siblings despite the fact that, except from being black, we look nothing similar. I questioned him directly whether it was because we were black, and he backed off. It's very aggravating.
