McKinsey & Company I received an offer from McKinsey & Company in 2021 and I’ll be starting later this year after graduation. Obviously because of the pandemic, inflation is slowly trending upwards. Has anyone asked for a base salary increase before even starting the job? Any advice on how to approach this?

I don’t work in those offices but I can confirm that ZS does not travel like other firms having worked at another firm. Client coverage is focused/covered based on metro area . So for NY that would be anything from CT to northern Jersey. SF would cover Bay Area clients, and from what I hear a lot of medtech.
Now if you had said Chicago / Boston - there is some chance of travel as those offices handle most of our “priority industries” aka non-pharma/healthcare/medtech clients.
In regards to culture, ZS is a bit more nerdy and less type A persona than other consulting places. The vast majority practice the ZS company line of “do the right thing, treat people right”.
The amount of support given by senior leadership this year has really caught me off guard after the way the ball had been dropped in previous years. However this year they crushed it from everything from plans to support for parents with kids at home, reducing internal meeting time, increasing available telemedicine, providing WFH expense and promoting meaning discussion on events of the summer. Besides this, no one was let go, though there was a hiring freeze. The summer and fall were brutal hours as hiring got turned back. However due to this, and general better than expected firm performance, our bonus’s got a secondary addition of ~30% (based on the initial bonus amount).
Obvi the partners could have pocketed and moved on, but found that gesture pretty nice moved on.
Hope this insight helps.
Unfortunately, I don’t have insight there. I am in the business consulting track.
I believe the BO work is more implementation focused than the BC track, but that could be wrong but maybe a helpful starting point.
