I haven’t opened a PMP book once, but have studied project management and agile a bit independently. Is it possible to pass the exam before December 31?
Any book recommendations on change management?
How long should it take to get ramped up for a new job? Just started this week so day 3 in the books but feel so out of the loop since it’s a new industry and the company’s main product offering is a homegrown platform. I’m coming in as a Manager and report up to a recently promoted VP if that’s of any consolation.
Are other agencies like this? --> working over 55-65 hours every week, every project stretches for 6 months to a year (no matter how small), rarely get good work produced, lots of proactive briefs that go nowhere, supremely short staffed creative department. I'm at a global network agency and losing it. Made one book-worthy piece in the past 1.5 years. I like my mentors and managers but I don't get put on projects with them. Is it time to leave?
Any good books/reads to learn aspects of Account Management / Engagement Management in context of tech consulting?
I am starting a new role with a new company and will have 6 direct reports. Although I have managed teams before in a consulting project setting, this will be the first time in industry. Any recommendations on how to sharpen my management skills (books, blogs, etc). Particularly looking at how to delegate effectively and practical examples on how to run day to day.
Being a Customer Success Manager is a second career for me. Any other CSM’s here and have you read any books or been to a workshop or conference that helped you be better at your job?
My current role is a Business Analyst. I am very comfortable interacting with people and also Ambiguity. Recently, I developed quite a lot of interest in Product management and I want to make a transition into this stream. I am completely aware that Business Analysis is different from Product Management. I started taking courses on Udemy to understand more about Product Management and also started reading books. I would love to get handson with the concepts that I am learning, but not sure (TBC)

Good books for engineering management interviews? Hi - i am an EM and I keep bombing the EM interviews. Typically don’t get any feedback. My resume is ok because I do get plenty of calls, but clearly i am doing something wrong somewhere. Anyone recommend any engineering management or just management interview book? I read quite a few Leadership books but honestly it seems just common sense stuff. Doesn’t help me identify whats wrong.

Hey fishbowlers! Question concerning compensation for an FA assisting the main advisor on a $135M book. I am doing a lot of the work now as he is going to retire in 4-5 years and he is taking a step back. I do all the investment management in the account. Only 4 years of experience but I've picked this up quick, am series 9-10 licensed and halfway through the CFP. What is fair compensation for someone like me? I don't know what is typical or fair.

Any good recommended books on how to build a scalable product and team? I'm looking for recommendations for two areas: 1) in general laying the groundwork in a startup to have the tools and especially processes in place to scale, and 2) tactical focus on building a SaaS project. I've been promoted into a management role from Dev roots, so need to learn more PM processes to be an effective manager in day job, plus would like to start building my own SaaS solution.
Interested to hear how people learn project management. I have done PRINCE2 exam and read PMP materials, but I find these are too textbook theory based. Real life projects seem to be very different and a lot more complicated. I often do not know what needs to be done unless someone tells me. I believe you can learn these things on the job, but I am keen to expedite this with some books or courses. Are there any resources that are particularly helpful?
Any book recommendations on how to work smarter not harder, particularly as it pertains to our day-to-day as management consultants?
What are some good books you would recommend for someone with an accounting background exploring a move to management consulting and strategy? No MBA.
I have done analytics and operations consulting for 9 years and I don’t like anymore. If there is even a remote chance of getting hired for product management role, I would like to take it. I am reading the books on PM and polishing my resume, are there any other things that I should keep in mind?
For people in consulting - do you often read books about project management and motivation? Would appreciate your recommendations (preferably the ones with more than one thought for the whole brick of text 🤨).

Referrals for rookies: After a few management positions in the industry, I'm starting a Msc Business Administration in September and I'm lining myself up for a transition in consulting. Although I have a question regarding referrals. In my book a referral is someone who can actually recommend you because they know who you are, how you perform etc. Yet, I see people here asking for referrals from strangers and strangers offering referrals. Does that even work??

I have an interview for social media strategist with a rising DTC startup in NYC. I’m feeling imposter syndrome, since I’ve never marketed such a big, hip company. What books can I read or courses can I take to come into the interview solid and prepared? Most of my marketing theory is based on Seth Godin books and reading psychology.
Any good book recommendations on psychology?
Have some downtime. Would anyone read a book on how to lead successful tech strategy assessments? (Willing to pay for it? $9.99?)
Does anyone have recommendations on books or courses that do a really good job explaining step-by-step on how to start and run a mid-size business (local marketing agency, self storage real estate business, call center for third parties, etc.)
@PwC is there a WBS code to book time for IT issues? I bet the numbers are scary to leadership and could easily justify getting everyone a better machine e.g. MacBooks than those inferior Dells/HP
The worst thing is being “voluntold”. Partners : “Hey, how do you feel about volunteering to lead this? I think you would be great “ Me: “I don’t have the bandwidth to lead that event” Partner : “Let me clarify, you are leading this event, please book a meeting on my calendar.”
Recommendation for a book to learn basics of investing - not too familiar with US stocks or system yet but want to start saving/growing

LEK🐠, how different is our casework (pack creation / iteration, model approaches, expert interview formats) compared to MBB? If it’s fairly similar, I’d turn down the MBB offer I have to pivot into tech. If MBB gives a new consulting experience, I’d accept. Generalist path. TIA🙌🏼 L.E.K. Very specific question - Canadian and European spouse travelling to Canada from Europe. However, spouse’s ETA not approved. Hi EY and Fishes everywhere! I might be getting an offer to join tax as an S1 (or exp. assoc), probably not being able to start until mid August based off how the process has been. However, I currently work at a mid size firm and we’re already getting into busy season. How would it look if I asked EY to postpone my start date till after 10/15 and say that I’m not ready to be thrown into a Big 4 busy season and that I don’t want to leave my current firm out to dry. Thank you all so much! @EY

How do you develop healthy financial boundaries with parents? My mother made a lot of sacrifices for myself and my sister growing up but she’s starting to feel like a burden. She’s just refused to go for more in life mostly because she’s been in a financially, emotionally and on one rare occasion, physically abusive relationship. It’s not that I don’t want to help her but she’s getting older and I’m trying to save for possible medical expenses. I have an account dedicated to that which — cont’d
