Looking forward in my career, one avenue I see is making a switch from manager to strategic leader. I am looking at courses or certifications in strategic leadership. What advice might you have in making this transition and are there any courses, certifications, or books that you might recommend.

I'll switch to a startup as the only data engineer and will closely work with all the Head ofs + the CTO.

Any advice/books/... on stakeholder management at that level? Especially when things fail/discussing budgets/new hires etc.

2. Reading past annual reports/investor reports to see how strategy played out

What book have you read that was helpful for your career and/or that you would recommend? Could be a technical book, management, etc. For me, it’s a book I read a few years ago: The Phoenix Project. I never thought I would read and like a novel about DevOps but I recommend it to all my managers.

Currently I'm a recent university graduate with a degree in Management Information Systems. I work in my family's business as an administrative assistant. I've 0 experience in IT (only book stuff) and I've been wanting to enter but all I get are assistant positions which is not my goal (those entry level job reqs are INSANE). As the first grad in my family I'm in desperate need of orientation. Any books/tips? Thank you!!

I get the feeling that there are some advisory managers that blatantly book every staff member in their office for “just one hour” on “very quick tasks” than blatantly and intentionally immediately dump 20-30 hours of work onto them, so they can get ahead in the musical chairs of finding staff. All to the adverse effect of the practice, staff, and other teams. There’s some people that consistently do this weekly. Kind of unethical.

Just started new job at BlackRock- no previous Asset/Investment Management experience. Any recommendations for books or tips on how to learn quickly?

Thoughts on Wealth Management as an industry? Offered a role to work under a senior FA and eventually take over the book (~$800M AUM and growing). It sounds great, but I am worried about the disruption this industry is facing with Robo advisors and other low cost, DIY options. I’d want to make sure the clients stay through the transition, and I don’t want to join a dying industry. Thoughts and advice?

How do you guys decide where to invest money? I just bought a 2 bedroom apartment that I’m confident will bring long term growth. I plan on buying another apartment for rental purposes in the next few months. But I want to start investing in the market in a smart way that will lead to greater financial stability. I am a sales rep and have worked extremely hard to build a large book of business. Every year upper management seems to find a way to cut commissions and make my hard work, worth less. Is this common? It’s pretty draining to work harder and get paid less year over year even though you’re typically getting more business. I don’t feel valued. Do more for less? Any other great sales companies/ industries that people are happy with and compensated accordingly? Preferably uncapped commissions
