Current LMM PE associate in a tier-2 city from a non-target school considering getting an MBA. My goal is to do LMM/MM PE in NYC after graduation and gain a strong network as my undergrad school has minimal alumni in PE. Have tried to lateral from my current role and it has been an uphill battle given my background. Is the cost of an MBA worth it for someone in my shoes? Only considering non-HS M7+Tuck/Yale. Thank you in advance.

Applying for a role at PWC - Senior Associate (Advisory). This is in the CRM space. No masters, 3.5 YOE. Would asking for 130k be too much?
I’m currently at 110k but I’m thinking they won’t ask about what I currently make.

I’ve worked as a Paralegal at a large law firm since graduating law school because I was waiting to take the UBE exam in Ohio and wanted the experience of a large firm and gain hands-on legal experience. I complete traditional Paralegal tasks, but many first-year associate tasks due to my “advanced skill set.” Today, I received glowing reviews at my year-end review, but when discussing my goals I was told that I couldn’t transition into an attorney role because “large law firms don’t do that.” 😞

Any tips on nailing down a salary range to ask for in an interview? Interviewing for an associate role at a major bank and can’t find any good resources online to get an idea for what is a typical range

Currently a second year associate in insurance defense at a regional firm. Looking at a moving to a vault100 firm in a transactional practice group as a staff attorney. Pros: significantly increased pay, firm name recognition. Cons: not an associate position and brand new practice area. Thoughts?

Curious to hear people's experience of moving from a consulting role to a PE investment role at associate level. Did you feel like you were disadvantaged relative to your former-IB peers due to no real transaction experience? How do the skills translate?

Completely burned out at my current firm and finally decided to move on - am a midlevel corp associate deciding between an extremely busy group at a prestigious firm with promise of great exit ops vs. a much narrower, specialized group at a more lifestyle firm (still biglaw). Same pay, same market. Any opinions on whether the promise of exit ops is worth it? Am dreading the thought of more 300+ hour months but don’t want to pigeonhole myself too early in career.

Do you cold email/LinkedIn message people in groups/roles that have open positions if they have no connection to you? Like would it be worthwhile to hot up a Corp Dev manager if there is a Corp Dev analyst/associate role open, but I didn't go to the same school or a have a similar background?

Exit Big 4 Consulting (manager) to:

a) Industry, Corp Dev, manager level
b) MBB, associate

Offers in hand for both, about what you’d expect: less money & hours for industry, more money at MBB

Netflix Content Strategy & Analysis

I got an interview coming up for an Associate level role there with the goal to move to Manager after 1 year.
1/ Any idea on compensation (Stock & Cash split)?
2/ Anyone knows what to expect during the interview process?
3/ Understood that Netflix is a high churn company, it seems this is a pretty niche role. What next if you want to move for whatever reason (e.g: Relocate, Let go,...)? I am based in Europe so less exit opps than if I was in LA

Would you accept an offer from a direct competitor for a 20% bump & promotion from analyst to associate manager if that role was a 12 month contract? (assuming it’s a T2 in tech ae. Salesforce, Adobe, etc)

I feel like tax is not for me and want to get out before I get too far! I’m three years in and am a HUGE people person. I love connecting, leading, teaching, helping, and get none of that in my role at PwC. I stare at excel sheets all day and try to figure out wtf the associate did compared to last year. Interviewing with Twitter Strategy and Operations Associate role (Applied online without noticing that it was Twitter) Any suggestions on case studies for problem solving interview round? Also any idea on whether this involves any kind of product strategy work or only program/project management? I'm supposed to set up time with the VPs next week to introduce myself. How should handle this calI? "Hi - here's my background, call me if you're hiring?" don't think they're going to hire me without transaction experience. Fake it until you make it? Maybe propose coming in as an analyst if they say no?

BCG Dubai has cancelled its Associate hiring for this year.
While other big firms in the region - S&, Kearney, OW and Bain are still hiring grads.
