When do you know it is time to go?
Senior litigation associate in what is considered Big Law in Canada. I am in very, very good position for partnership in the next two years… but lately my heart has not been into it. Been overloaded for some time now, not enjoying the stuff I used to. Considering going in-house, but pretty convinced I will be bored to death.

I have an interview for an in house position (only attorney) at a small non-profit focused on conservation easements. I am a transactional associate at a mid sized law firm. The prospect of freedom from the billable hour and contributing to meaningful work are the draws. The cons are that while the salary at the non-profit would only be slightly less than what I am making now, pay increases and opportunities for advancement will be much less than where I am now. How do folks write their resumes coming out of consulting - would you list current role along with previous roles for the same company (e.g., associate 2017-2019, sr associate 2019-2021 etc). Also how do y’all think about listing experiences - do you do a short blurb that’s blinded (e.g., redesigned XYZ to deliver $XX savings for a F10 client)? Are there other ways to do this better? Apologies for what might be a dumb question!
