Question for people who recently existed to tech - I m SM at EY,15yoe, <200k tc. Exploring opps and recently spoke to a few recruiters in FAANG and other large tech companies. For all the positions I am being considered, are in the range of $400k tc (base, bonus,rsu). So basically I can I get at least a 80-90% increase ... is that even viable? Base is mainly the same.. it’s the rsu and sign on bonus that makes up most of the increase. Was this the case when u exiting consulting for Tech?

Unsure of my next move. I left Big 4 for a smaller niche firm, I’m a senior manager there, but not loving the offerings/niche after working it for 2+ yrs now. However, my comp is good ($170k all in, 6.5 yoe) and I’m worried I couldn’t get that elsewhere. Ideally would like to stick with a company and move into exec leadership, but I don’t know how to break in since all I know is consulting. What roles fast track to leadership? My exp is strategy/analytics in the natl sec/defense space.

I heard a first year SM left D and went to Google with a $400k total comp. It was like $250 base plus stock plus signing bonus. Sound legit?

I’ve been working on an internal sales team where the SM in charge was unorganized, a bad communicator, and as a bonus, they liked to blatantly lie in sales calls. They took a leave earlier this year, and while they were gone we found an amazing manager that’s up for promotion to take over. Now the SM is back, and they’re back to their old ways/operating in a silo. We’re hoping to get the SM to step aside to an advisory role, but not the overall lead. How should we approach the conversation?

For those of us who don’t think we’ll be shooting for PPMD, what level SM do you think is the ideal jumping off point into a different job? What types of jobs and salary increase would you expect? I’ve never really looked for jobs so not sure what the market looks like for us but don’t think I’ll be here for the long haul

I have seen the 2000-01 and 2008 recessions in 2 different industries and now 3rd.I have seen the best and the worst of times.I have been at jobs for 10 years with no bonus and no raises.The problem is that for the last 9+ years we are living in a speculation where everyone believes they deserve bonus and a raise every year and to make it to M/SM by year 5 and get other people do the work. They haven't however learned how to survive and pick up skills which they will allow them to rise up when need comes.

What salary range does an M&A Buyside Integration Senior Manager have at a FAANG or similar tech product/platform darling?

Trying to decide b/t two offers, currently an Mgr w/ M7 MBA. Both are traditional multinationals, but diff sizes. Any help appreciated!

1) Director title, low brand recognition, smaller company (low multi-billion $ rev) no hope for stock. 185k base, 20% bonus, but heard no bonuses or salary bumps this year.

2) Senior Manager title (so one step below 1st offer), much larger company ($50B+), potential for stock at Director level, $175k salary, 10% bonus, but company is doing well despite COVID

Just found out I was promoted to Senior Manager (People Advisory Services) Salary is $155k. Anyone else think that sounds low?

Came into public accounting from school & put my head down & made it to Senior Manager (maybe a year early). Now, reflecting, I am considering whether this is what I want to do going forward and worried about being pigeon-holed to tax for life if I stay longer. Comp also has never kept up to expectations. For others who’ve been in this position, what made you stay or go? Is the grass greener? Or should I stick with it and be happy w/ slight chance at partner @ some pt down the line?

I’m a second year tax manager in B4 and getting tired of the hours. With no pay increases coming anytime soon, I’m starting to think about jumping to industry to try it out. Would I be smarter to do another year+ to get to Senior Manager, then look to leave? What more would that get me in terms of title/comp?
