Why do FAANG companies pay above market not just for Eng talent but other non-core functions? Like HR or other functions that are largely similar anywhere else

Hi y’all! My background is mostly in international and nonprofit sectors, but now I’m looking to pivot to tech (program or project management positions). Any tips on where to start? Recommendations for certificates/online course I should take to increase my chances to land a job in tech? Thank you!

Okay so I was supposed to chat with a recruiter about sharing my reference contacts for a reference check. He's been MIA for three days citing that he's been under the weather.

Should I be worried? Is this a strategy commonly used to stall or is he actually just sick?

I have accepted an offer for the role of Director of Data Science & Analytics and I'll be working with old colleagues. I am very excited. I haven't given notice yet because I am waiting for the background check to complete, but my boss just asked me about traveling to a meeting in November. I start at the new job Oct 25. I'm really struggling for how to respond. If I were not leaving it is absolutely a meeting I should be at. I don't want to respond with a lie. Any dvice on how to respond?

Is it a bad idea to leave tech and try something else if I want to go back to tech eventually? For context I have the opportunity to move to London and pivot into a new field for me but the job is at an agency. I know I’d want to eventually go back to tech but paranoid it’ll be more difficult - thoughts?

I’ve been in TA for 10 years and have been wanting to be an HRBP for 2 years now. My prior company had no interest in helping me develop and started with a new company 4 months ago. I was transparent from the start that I wanted to leave TA and was told I could do that within my first year. I’m receiving signs that I’ll, once again, be pigeonholed in TA. I’ve done talent management, DEI, engagement, but my lack of direct BP experience and TA titles keep me pigeonholed. What can I do?

Hi, i have been laid off by publicis sapient & my LWD was at 30dec, 2022. I got a job within 15 days and asked ps to prepone my LWD to 30nov, 2022. During the layoff meeting they said I will get salary till 30th dec, even of i leave early with bonus of 5% of my total compensation and leave encashment money also.
