Been there. If you can hang on long enough, administration tends to change after a few years.
Before you leave the profession, try looking at another school within the district. Sometimes a change in location is all you need. If you love teaching, keep teaching. Don't let a change in administration cause you to abandon what you love. You can do it. Give til the end of the year. If you are still having that anxiety in the end, use the summer to look. Teachers are overworked and under appreciated. Believe in yourself and good things will happen.
The administrative support had much to do with your ability to teach. I've had the worst in my past that made me want to quit teaching as well. I did leave that district and with my new administration, I love teaching more than I did previously.
I’m not even sure I would know what to do outside of teaching. However, after dealing with this new administrator my joy of teaching is going out the window working with them. It’s not the kids, it’s the pressure form administration. I’m also the primary parent to my 2 year old daughter and teach lessons after school twice a week.
I had my mid-year conference on Friday and was ambushed by the principal being in the room with the AP. I was essentially threatened that I wouldn't have a job next year if I didn't be their puppet.
