Don’t listen to the folks opining that don’t understand this career path.
You put in the 4-5 years of delivery to develop program and client management skills, then can transition to a senior manager, product manager, architect, or program manager role. I’m 6 yoe making 200k+ TC in a mid tier city.
There is a reason salesforce implementation is proportionally one of the biggest arms of consulting services today.
What role do you have at sf?
You haven’t learned real skills in change management, Dev ops, business analysis, integration, database design, solution architecture, or data migration? Can you position your experience to highlight something like that to stand out to employers?
Most definitely and thank you for breaking that down. Reflecting on your comment I believe the primary crux of my problem is not being aware of the type of opportunities that I can look to transition to having experience is data designing, typical BA work, leading client meetings and knowledge transfer sessions, creating the core project deliverables etc. Feel like they are consulting specific and just not privy to what’s out there of similar work within industry
What's SF
Salesforce - my bad
Yea..you are implementing one specific software program…
Rising Star
what were you expecting?
Just learn Salesforce and how it could be implemented. If you have solid skills in SF, then pivoting to industry would be easy. Just work on transformation projects as project/program/product manager. 2 years though is a really short time to learn the product and sell, implement, configure, maintain it really well. Heck, you could make a killing by just starting your own SF maintenance shop.
Are you looking to go into industry or stay in consulting?
Wow. You sound like me in reverse.. Kept getting told "not enough experience", despite being in IT 8 years..
when trying to pivot from DevOps (Microsoft and AWS) to Salesforce...
.. Finally able to obtain position..
.. Best thing I can tell you from having walked the path recently..
Network with folks in area you are trying to pivot to ( AWS, STRATEGY, etc)
That is how I got the position I am in now..
Got contacted by recruiter, but was referred to that recruiter by someone in my network...
Also, don't be afraid to follow up a couple months after being denied..
Again, for v the position I got, was told No initially, but then followed up with recruiter on same day, by happenstance, that recruiter got more job bids.
