You saw this one coming and it is indeed coming; weird flex, but okay
But this isn’t a “weird” flex. If anything it’s just a flex. “Weird flex” is supposed to actually be something weird
100k doesn’t mean much. But what’s important is that you’ve gotten in a habit of saving and living below your means and that will bring you the freedom to pursue things you really care about. My advice to you, is to realize yes the money in the bank doesn’t make me happy per say, but would you have been happier if you’d spent it? I doubt it. One day life will throw you some curve balls, having a fat bank account will help you cope with them. It’s sad in today’s society we rarely value frugality. But I’ll say it: Good job. Keep it up.
Just hit 200k at 26. Keep it up
I'll be there soon. But still won't be able to afford NY. Lmaooo
I'm 37 with a household net worth around 900k, this includes 2 properties.
We had 2 kids starting close to 5 years ago and savings rate plummeted. I wouldn't trade either kid for a higher net worth.
Currently having this debate. Be financially independent by 40 or have some kids? Questions questions.
I am 35 and I feel so inferior here lol. Someone above has hit 1mn at 35, I am only at approx 325k. Married, has one child. Single earner
31, joint 1.3M with wife no kids.
More importantly, is it really possible that people who claim to be consultants do not understand the concept of net worth? How do you read a financial statement?
That may be true, but it is probably the most basic concept of finance
Congratulations OP! Every once in awhile, I still tear up and think how lucky I am to have a job I love making the money I make to keep myself and my family secure. A little folksy, but a phrase I think often is....”boy, weren’t we lucky?"
How are you 24 with 100k NW? What is your salary and did you just hit it big in bitcoin or something? For real, pretty curious.
Sincerely a 24 year old in nyc @ ~45k
Could be a combination of factors, but I have friends that live at home with salaries of 80k, able to save 40-50k a year and hit 100k at 24.
I’m on track myself, I live in NYC making 90k. I pay 2k in rent and expenses a month and save about 40k a year including bonuses.
A1 P1 thank you both, I really appreciate your advice
Hit 1M, and you will feel different
Keep grindin'
Hit $2.1M at 34. Still feel poor.
I'm curious how you managed to hit 100k at 24. Asking because I'm not even close to that mark. Did you not have student loans? Car payment?
I think this type of post can be hard for some of us to hear because we’re nowhere near it for what could be a number of reasons. But I think the important thing to realize is we all have our own paths. Its great that some people have zero debt and can shovel money into savings. I know I personally wish that was my case, but it’s not. While I admit I do envy you somewhat OP (and others) I am also very happy for you! It’s an amazing accomplishment, and one that I myself am still working on. To everyone out there who has not hit this milestone or their own personal goal, let’s all just keep working for it and make sure to learn from ours and others mistakes and successes.
Again congrats OP and others! I wish everyone continued success 🙌🏼
34.. 34mil with current btc price. 120k salary. 2 kids under 2. Money makes life easier. Family
Makes happiness
I mean if you bought bitcoin when it first started you could easily have made multiple millions
To me, I mainly don’t want to have to worry about money, either now or in retirement. As my income and assets have grown over the years, specific number thresholds have meant less, as you note.
D1 that’s the goal! To stay level headed and find my ideal band
Congrats!! keep in mind it’s a journey and you are well on your way to success
Hey! That’s great. I’m 25 and just crossed 125k NW living in NYC also
Or am I just underpaid...
Most likely no debt, high COL city with public transit. Im on track to hit the same milestone too
I had $15k coming out of high school but I burnt it all on tuition and housing in college
It does buy you happiness. It gives you freedom to do what makes you happy, without having to worry about food/rent. I (and probably a lot of people on here) don’t even look at my paychecks or care anymore - that’s something most of America will never be able to say, and you should be proud of that. Just make sure you control your spending and keep your funds diversified, also realize you have no major expenses right now besides rent. $200k @ 24, neither of my parents went to college. Blessed with no debt when I was in college.
When I was 24 I had 90K in college debt now I’m positive at 28
