What helps you get through the bad days?
I hope it does not come off crass, but you can't save them all.
It sure is worth trying though.
Hang in there, it is all too easy to focus on your loses; I'm willing to bet that since you care this much, you have helped many and will help even more in the future.
Take a mental health day, then get back to your good work. Kids need people who care.
Thank you. 💛 you didn’t come off as crass at all. Thank you.
That is so unbelievably hard! See if your school has a plan for you to see a therapist free for awhile. You could also try starting a mental health club at your school. You could teach some of the things you learn and there's also a lot of apps that are great for meditating. Art is also very therapeutic.
Thank you for your recommendations. I was working with our districts MFT for awhile and have gotten some closer by working with some other staff. I just feel meh. 🤷🏻♀️. It was really difficult to go back into my room at the start of the new school year. I just sat in her spot for awhile.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Your grief absolutely would cause you to feel that way - processing through the loss will help you be able to help others again.
I’m not even sure how to do that. I feel like I have coped, yet I feel like I am not able to help anymore. Either that or I am hesitant because of how it impacted me.
I lost my son to suicide 5 1/2 years ago. It is for him that I keep going and learning more. If I had only known then what I do now, I think it would be different:-( I just have to hope and pray that I can make help my students. It is hard- talk to someone if you need to and talk often about your student. Keep her memory alive.
Also reach out to her parents! Let them know she has not been forgotten.
Hi there,
I am sorry for that loss. i lost a really good friend about 10 years ago now. There isnt a day that goes by that I dont think about him. Each time he comes up in my memories I have to pause. You couldn't stop what happen, but you may help stop someone else. This year for me has been about love and kindness. I want my kids to feel those things every day.
