Any ideas on the pay range for the US Regional Meetings Lead Amgen? I’ve been agency based for quite a long time. I have worked with Amgen previously, currently serving another pharma, but looking to make the leap to the client side. Trying to see if the pay would be worth it at this juncture.

I interviewed with Firm A months ago and accepted a position to start this upcoming fall. Group leader called me to offer the position back in November 2020. Besides interviewing with partners at the firms, and diligent follow ups notifying them of my interest to get started, no communication has transpired since. It turns out that I accepted a better offer w/ Firm B for personal reasons and won’t be going to Firm A. What is the best way to notify Firm A? Call/email group leader? Call/email HR?

So, wait, are you saying that you don’t have to have a visa simply by virtue of Asian ethnicity?

I’m very sorry that happened. I think that was an aberration. — Ex-Cooley as of today.

Absolutely was. I wish OP had reported that to someone at the time. Completely unacceptable and something the firm would address.

The number of Asian people (and Poc) who reported being not treated the best at Cooley is VERY high. Their recent class of partners also can tell you that the bias exists.

I definitely didn’t mean to ask what is the proof of racism at firms - it’s everywhere. As is sexism. And lots of problematic talk and concerning stereotypes and so on. Like… it’s pretty obvious.
I meant that it sucks if they layoffs disproportionately affected Asians and that was due to bias conscious or unconscious, which is a rumor that has yet to be proved up. I understand that most firms these days would certainly take DEI considerations into account during layoffs and have heard this was no different, so if it appears disproportionate it may be that it was and it may be that one person’s limited sample size is off. Accusing a firm of racism based on anonymous comments on a forum by people who likely don’t have a list of who was laid off, the precise demographics of the firm, and a lot of other information is problematic. So is being racist.
Should have reported this clown to your law school career office
I’m a little confused here. Are you saying that the Cooley recruiter assumed you were on a visa because you were visibly Asian despite you being an American?
yeah also it 1) only happened to asian students 2) totally disregarded things on the resumes that would suggest where people were from/ grew up

You’d think a firm HQ’d in Palo Alto would assume the exact opposite…
Is HR rude at most big law firms? That's what I've noticed for the most part
As someone who just did interviews for cooley SA recruiting, I was also told to pick a single office but it was because they had each applicant only pick one office. My friends also had a similar experience. Wonder if there might’ve been a misunderstanding here?
