I think this is a great idea for any kind of workbook or repetitive task. People probably get so wrapped up in drafting notes that they maybe miss other parts of the convo
Industry gang here. I recorded calls all the time on Teams so I could reference them later. Made training super easy, and year-end close was a breeze compared to what it could have been
Industry boomerang here. I brought this up when I was in PA and it was greeted like a great idea, but never utilized. I use it in industry now, when I can, and it's worked pretty well.
Not 100% positive, but pretty sure Deloitte has a policy against this. Also, just if I was on the other side of the coin, I would be feel pretty weird if I later found out I was in a meeting which was recorded and I didn’t know about it.
So obvs let anyone on the call know, I wouldn't recommend just blanket recording. But there is defo upside to this, if used correctly. It was really just a suggestion in response to many posts I've been seeing and venting sessions I've been involved in, but I appreciate the feedback!
I would stay far away from recording.
If it's instructional in nature, I don't see the downside of having a general recording. Instead of sitting there writing up procedures and continually having to retrain staff on basic recurring tasks specific to a client, you have something else to point to. Basic editing can be utilized for updating YoY. I'm not saying just start recording all calls and video-conferences - this was truly for instructional/explanatory items. With that being said, I completely understand why you would advise to stay away from recordings. Input noted and appreciated.
Could be good evidence for audit malpractice lawsuits!
Secretly did this and deleted right after I took notes from the recording. Sorry I just couldn’t take all things down when people talk all the time and English is not my first language (doubt if I were able to even it was)
I wish EY allowed us to screen record. I understand sensitive information, but I’ve found taking video incredibly useful, especially for our offshore GDS staff. Besides that, as a staff 2 I do prefer written instructions. I tend to be awkward/shy on the phone, which leads me to focus more on what I’m saying vs what they are saying and it skews my note taking
PwC video records many of our internal tax trainings and shares the recordings with the intended audiences. I participated in a 2-hour training yesterday that was video recorded.
