Publicis agencies get great health insurance. It's expensive, but mostly comprehensive. I'm in the middle of switching jobs and asked my new employer about coverage in great detail. They were not prepared to answer my questions, and I almost walked away from the opportunity over it. They were really surprised. I've worked at other places with terrible insurance. Out of pocket maximums usually run between $3k-$8k, which does not include the cost of your premium.
You can generally just assume anything about health insurance in the US sucks.
it blows and expensive. other than regular checkups, my insurance covers zippo. the deductibles are a couple of grand and I never hit it.
case in point, I had to go urgent care last week - I know at this point in the year, I won't hit my $2K deductible....so I tell urgent care I am paying cash. suddenly, it goes from $150 to $100 since they don't have to deal with insurance. that is what is wrong with health care in the US.
If I didn't have to go to the emergency room last year, I wouldn't have hit my deductible. I'm young, healthy, no conditions, don't take any meds. It cost me $175 for my 10 minute annual skin scan at my dermatologist.
Hate those high-desuctible plans. I won't work anywhere with them. I have to go for bimonthly appointments so some shrink can make his money off my adhd "medication management" (What a crockashit that is. When did writing a prescription become management?). But those motherfuckers are expensive.
It's a mess and barely covers anything. Having lived in Canada and the U.K. (Universal HC) you get much better quality in those countries and don't have to ruin your life savings.
Awful.
My husband and I have a deductible of 3400. In a normal healthy year we would not ever hit that. However, all annual check ups (Primary, eye, ear, derm, gyno, dentist (every 6 months) are covered.
My deductible is $500. $3400/5000 is insane. Can you pay more monthly and get a lower deductible or is that your only option?
Ours is really good. Options for Blue Cross/Blue Shield with an FSA or the new HSA plan. Heavily subsidized by the agency and matching funds on the FSA/HSA. Also vision, dental.
