I haven't heard of this! What is the reason behind this? I think the best moment is now, in 3-4 months many positions will be closed and new ones will be opened. Just do not apply for everything, apply to all positions you'd be a great fit for.

That’s one of those “common wisdom” things that gets repeated a lot, but doesn’t hold up well under scrutiny. Yes, there’s often a slow period between Thanksgiving and mid-January, but smart companies keep recruiting year-round. Especially if a role is already open, now is exactly when fewer applicants are active—so you might get more visibility. I'd say keep applying, but also follow up in January to refresh interest.
The holidays aren’t useless. Smaller teams often review candidates quietly, so applications can stand out. Mid-March may see more openings, but being on the radar early can give you a head start.
