One of my favorite podcasts did an episode on Adderall. Most of the info won’t be new, but there were some interesting snippets in there. I also thought it was a useful educational resource to share with your family and friends.

Some doctors will ask for a drug test before prescribing controlled substances to help them identify people who are drug seeking.
Hey, I get your frustration, but I'd strongly recommend waiting for proper medical guidance. Health comes first, and self-medicating can be risky. I would say its not worth it personally....
A friend wouldn't sell it to you but wouldn't care if you inadvertently happened to take a pill from their bottle because you were distracted confused it with your paracetamol.
People die of accidental fentanyl poisoning this way. If you're getting pills from an individual, you cannot be sure where they're from or what they're made of. Just using the worst case scenario to point to why you shouldn't do this. Even then, this is a real epidemic in the US today that cuts across socio-economic lines.
Tell us more about the fentanyl epidemic and what drove it.
Do you know you have it for sure and the diagnostic is just a formality or are you guessing? Asked my therapist about giving meds to someone who is pre-diagnosed and waiting for official, but the guidance is not to if you are taking other meds or have any other condition that could potentially interact. Corollary, if you’re healthy, no family history of issues and not taking any meds (and def have adhd) then you’re probs fine to try. If you do try, only go for short release not extended. If you’re not sure you have adhd, don’t take it because the side effects for those people don’t sound pleasant tbh. Fwiw I took a tiny dose from a friend a decade before I got diagnosed and was surprised when I had zero bad effects, only felt quiet in my brain and focused. In retrospect that was a dead giveaway I had it, but it was a dumb thing to try without knowing
I totally would try it. I've had a friend tell their doctor they tried it and it worked and then they got the prescription.
That was a while ago, but as long as you don't look strung out I doubt you'll raise suspicion

Be very, very careful with taking any substances whose origin/purity you cannot verify. If you trust your friend and they are prescription medication that he received from a licensed pharmacy, it may be a short-term solution.
Ironically, what it will actually be best for is confirming your self-diagnosis. People with ADHD react quite differently to the medication than neurotypical individuals - those with ADHD tend to become calmer on stimulants.
