Any advice on how to switch into L&E.
Previously was a junior corporate attorney in big law who was laid off mid last year and has had difficulty getting a new corporate role. I'm now trying to retool into a practice group l am more interested in. How do I go about it? I think making the switch will be worth it in the long run for my career. Based in Chicago but considering moving to NY this year

What is considered a “large” caseload in employment litigation? I work at a large L&E boutique law firm and handling about 14-15 active litigation cases in state/federal court or arbitration. Some of these matters are multi-plaintiff and multi-defendant cases, but none are class actions. This does not include any matters I am handling in the charge stage or in pre-litigation. Not sure if that’s a typical caseload or not?

I’ve been practicing in traditional labor for about two years now (although about a decade of labor relations experience) but I’m trying to break into employee benefits law. Unfortunately I’m not being given much experience in benefits as I’m pretty typecast as a labor atty. Any advice on how I can go about getting employee benefit experience?
