Any other 1st years kind of insulted by the bonus we got? I know we don’t normally get bonus but I thought it was pretty weak. The way I see it, we had a signed agreement to start work in Aug/Sep, and they completely abandoned us when they furloughed us. I would’ve made ~12K during the months I was furloughed, so minus the 2k stipend, Deloitte basically took 10k away from me(plus the COLA adjustment we were promised that never came). The bonus is only ~25% of what I lost

It’s employment at will- they could have just ‘fired/rescinded their offer’ to you before you started. First three years- generally no AIP, so the bonus as a first year that you got is really just for good faith.

Deloitte …. - I am filling my days with interviews. Do the same ;)

How about this - we worked full time and even over time because of more crisis during the pandemic when our salary was cut at least 10% and bonus payout this year was only 50%. All of these while our leaders make tens of millions by selling their stock options after our stock price went through the roof when earnings came out better than expected. But at least we were not let go.

You got 2.5k as first year? That is great actually

I was A1 last year. My bonus was $800 at PwC lol

This post made me laugh. It’s like you were the only ones in the country furloughed, you need to take a step back and realized that a lot of people got furloughed even worse 5% of the employees at Deloitte got let go. Complaining about money “ you would have made” is bogus. 2.5k is way more than most 1st years get. You were expecting a 12k bonus? Get real with yourself, managers probably get that amount, imagine the chaos if you got a higher bonus than a manager.

The fact that this person doesn’t see how entitled they are is appalling. Not a single person has taken their side.

I mean how much had you contributed to these earnings by just joining in Jan that you think you were owed a bigger AIP?

OP - why don’t you just quit? You’re in for some rude awakenings along the line if you’re so upset about this…

This post is crazy. I’m first year staff I’m not expecting the bonus to be over $500. The fact that you got $2k and are complaining shows entitlement. Be grateful you received anything at all.

Bonus are typically not given to first years. Most of us had to wait until we got to Senior level to be considered for a bonus.

I’m thinking about leaving my government job for a matrimonial law firm. I had a baby in January & my husband’s job was hit particularly hard by the pandemic (100% commission based & I was already earning more than him). I am enticed by the compensation & have been unhappy with certain aspects of my govt job lately. But I’m also nervous about billables & firm life (I was a matrimonial lawyer 5+ years ago). Mostly I want to provide for my baby girl & not be stressed financially. Advice? Thoughts?
