So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?
So, lay off until the pandemic blows over.

As difficult as it is, don't blame yourself. The agency miscalculated their staffing needs (as I've previously mentioned here). It happens to most people at least once.
Update your LinkedIn with as many pertinent keywords as possible so recruiters will hit & reach out to friends in the industry. Don’t stress. It’s not that hard at your level to find something (gets harder as you move up to exec roles since salary needs are higher). It’ll be tough to find something new in Q4 so, if you can afford it, enjoy your winter and pick up full speed Jan 1. Good luck! We’ve (mostly) all been there.
Agree that you shouldn’t blame yourself. I’ve been hit twice and there’s nothing I could have done about it. Treat looking for a job like it’s your job. I took some time to process what happened then I went back to setting my alarm to get up early to start networking, sending out resumes and meeting with recruiters. I found solid new jobs both times. You can too.
Do not let yourself have an emotional reaction until you have your shit figured out. I once got laid off at 9 am and had a phone screening by 1 pm. Recognize the time as a gift, and use it to enrich yourself somehow. Go to museums, travel, whatever is in your budget. Focus on a short term solution that buys you time to figure out more of a long-term game plan.
Apply for unemployment immediately otherwise you're leaving dollars on the table.
Enjoy the time off and the severance. Take the time to find a job you actually want and can succeed at.
I think a good cry will work wonders. Did for me.
Just be professional and make sure to listen to them when you do all the layoffs. This is a hard time for them. Try to put yourself in their shoes.
Remember what is was like at the agency before the layoffs hit. And how they mugs were with you. Next time, you’ll have a heads up and will start making moves before the event. But don’t tell your friends. They’ll be dead weight and shove you off the raft when then was more than enough room for you. Dammit Rose.

1- Thank your lucky stars
2- Collect wtvr is left of your soul
3- Go do something fun with your life
Dont settle for a shit job just so you can make ends meet. If you can afford it, take the time to get a job you'll really be happy in. First time I got laid off I was desperate for a job and got stuck in a real shit company.
The best way to get past the trauma of getting laid off is meeting with new people who respect your experience and work. It can be very gratifying to feel wanted. There is no job security in this biz. But there is career security. It comes from having a good track record and a good network. Also, remember the people who were good to you and helpful to you when you got laid off. These people are gold. Adversity reveals character. Theirs and yours.

Been there. Look at jobs posted on recruiting sites/ reach out to recruiters on LinkedIn. Know that this is normal in this industry as clients switch companies all the time.
