My portfolio is killing me. Help!!!!
Bain & Company Is there a cool down at Bain even if you don’t make it past the resume screen? Applied a couple months ago on a whim (and a referral from a friend) having no experience with anything business/consulting related as a lateral (only had experience in research prior). Since then have had 2 months at a t2 firm plus some biz dev for a startup. I’m aiming to reapply at 6 months. For context graduated from a t10 school and thought I wanted to go to med school for a little bit lol. Bain & Company
Interviewed at Deloitte, PwC and EY for Advisory Senior Consultant role. Deloitte offered $105K (plus $5K bonus), PWC offered $127K (plus $15K bonus) and EY offered $155K (plus $10K bonus). Surprised with the difference in pay between Deloitte & EY for same role. Is Deloitte Advisory paying less compared to other firms? 4.5YOE in Consulting.

HAVE YOU TRIED CAPS LOCK?
lol!!
You might want to strengthen your core and diaphragm since that is where the power in your voice really comes from. Just my opinion.
Physical exercises? okay, thanks, helpful

I need this too. My voice cracks like a teenage boy, and it doesn’t carry well unless I get sick and have a sore throat
For real kill two birds with one stone- take a conversational foreign language class
Having a cup of hot water with lemon / green tea has helped me clear my throat. Helps me atleast sound clear.

Do squats
Chief
It was a joke, but yeah in all seriousness squats have a net positive increase in testosterone which should put some bass your voice. Enough to make a significant impact? Probably not. But fun facts for the day I guess

Also try standing up on calls. Weird but has worked for me. A high quality mic also will probably make you realize you’re less nasally than you think!
And if all else fails… there’s wasabi.

Good seated posture helps a lot

In fact it's the same not opposite. Point was to sit up straight if you're on video calls (without back on the chair), first choice would be stand tall

Physically, you can practice breathing from your diaphragm. Keep your sinuses clear so you feel your voice resonate. That will help with projection.
I'm not sure if I am doing it. Need guidance on this. Will look up on Youtube, thanks!
I cannot express how big of a difference a real, professional microphone makes on calls- people just listen to you more. It's magic.
A great plug and play solution? The Blue Yeticaster bundle. The arm - and proximity to your mouth - is just as important as the microphone itself. This is ~$190, which isn't cheap per se, but it is WILD how big of a difference it makes.
I give this advice all the time - and it's rarely followed because of the cost. Think of it as eminence spend- you're probably not traveling nearly as much, probably not going into office either. Take that $$ you would have spent at the tailor and get a microphone.
thanks, constrained for space on my desk but got Aftershokz from Amazon and I think it helps.
