Anyone else having a really hard time moving jobs? Been interviewed a bunch of times but never chosen.

I'm a former teacher who moved into the corporate world a few years ago, so I have experience and an education basis.

I do think it's partially me...I keep giving long-winded metholody/praxis based answers when dealing with those in the field, but I'm starting to think it's hurting more than helping.

Advice? Success stories? Commiserating?

No advice. I am trying to switch companies too. I have had minimal interviews and no offers. For my last interview, I did ask the hiring manager of she had any feedback or if there were any skills I could do work on, and she said no, I was a great candidate and it was an internal hire. I have been trying for 3 years now and can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Thankfully my job is stable and fine for the most part, but it is a dead end with no growth potential.

Check out a job hunting consultant/coach (not sure what the title really is).

I stumbled into a community at Remotive.com. while I haven't had much luck from their job board, they have a give back type community where I've been doing everything from updating the style of my resume and LinkedIn profile, doing job hunts differently and even new ways for practice questions.

Plus they do two office hours a week with the head of the company for semi one on one coaching to help with whatever you need to "be seen" by the recruiting and hiring managers.

I haven't had job offer success, but uncovered more opportunities, interviews, and just better insight to the recruitung world. YMMV, but it helped me.

I think they also do the occasional resume roast through LinkedIn, so you can see if it's a fit for you.

I just got a new job, but it's not what I expected. I was expecting a career opportunity and a chance to learn and grow in my field, but instead I'm stuck doing the same thing as before, just from home.

I currently work in Private (GA) Aviation & have for some time (about 12 years) I’m currently making the switch to the Department of Aviation and am unsure if I should ditch my current job (in private) and go full force with the DOA & embrace this new opportunity educationally and gather as much experience as I can or keep both jobs even though I’d be working 80hr weeks.. I love the private world but am really ready to move up. I don’t know what I should do. Any suggestions?

I am a business development manager in a small biotech incubator. My end goal is to work in commercial, BD or operations within a big pharma/biotech company. What would be best for me:

1) stay in my company to quickly become BD Director and then exit (however my learning opportunities within my current company might be limited)
2) go do consulting for a few years
3) any other recommendations?

Thanks!

Previously interned there & left because my supervisor did not have any growth opportunities planned out for me; this was in spite of my stellar performance, as reflected in my 90 day review. I applied for a Director Learning and Development (L&D) role at McKinsey about a month ago via a referral. About a week ago, my McKinsey employee (who referred me) received an automated email saying that I had moved to the pre-screening process of the recruitment process and that I'll hear from the recruiter shortly.

It's more than a week now and I haven't heard back. Can anyone shed light on the process -- what to expect, timelines, what is the interview process like, etc.

Thanks!

I am currently an HR professinal of 3 years with past background as a teacher/advisor in higher ed. I am aiming to pivot to a more L&D, training specialist type role in order to leverage the skills obtained in both areas. It would be the perfect career for me. Any openings or hiring at your company? I am not super concerned about the title as long as there is room for growth and I can pay for my 3 kids' daycare tuitions. ;)

Need some benchmarks: What would average/good survey results be for a leadership skills class (instructor-led)? We ask for the participant’s experience (did you like it, would you recommend, etc.), and also send an impact survey out 2 months later to their manager (have you seen positive behavior changes since training). Our experience survey is at 92% positive and impact to behaviors is at 83% positive. Anything I can compare to in order to share the story with leadership?

Hello! I’ve been at the insurance company I work for, for 8 years. I did 3 years in sales, 2 in customer service and the last 3 years as a learning and development training specialist. I feel my company is undervaluing me. Any advice ?

Hi all! I have an opportunity to work for a tech company as a l&d specialist. They are quoting 70-75k. But I have 8 years experience. Does that seem like a fair number? Sounds low to me but I wanted to check.

Looking for some advice…I’ve been told that transitioning to L&D should be “easy“ given my experience and skills (résumé posted for reference - note that I adapt it per position). I have tried applying for specialist to Director positions but I’m not having much luck. Any suggestions on position type and level that I should be focused on. (I have executive level exp. and cannot afford to start an entry-level position.)

Hi everyone, I have a question about job transition. I want to transition into sales training. I have 9 YOE in sales account mgt and created some really effective trainings my office used and loved. After that I got 2 yrs in curriculum development elsewhere.

I want to move into a sales training role that will take into consideration my sales experience? Don't want to start from scratch. What job titles should I be looking for?

Reposting from HR bowl: I’ve heard there is a hiring boom, especially for L&D roles. I was let go recently from a toxic environment (removed the company from everything) after only 4 days of work. I’m actively job searching but not receiving ideal hits. I see a lot of senior level L&D roles but not as many for specialist roles, specifically in tech. I have 5.5 years of experience. Any advice for me? I’m also seeking therapy for the trauma & coping, now ready for securing that next role!
