We have eeo investigators who report to the head of employment law. None of them are lawyers though a former one is now on the employment law team as a lawyer. If you don’t have prior experiences this is going to be a hard job to land and you won’t really get employment law experience doing this- you need to learn all employment law, not just eeo. If a company were willing to hire you from being an eeo investigator, they’d be hiring something close to an entry level employment attorney
I’m not sure how it helps if you want to get into employment law- you need that experience. But if you are interested in investigations (compliance or employee relations) it could be helpful.
I’m not sure you make this a side gig without experience- companies want people who know what they are doing as these have high exposure.
Our full time investigators make a base probably in the 150-165 range in big pharma. Both have 20 years experience
